Welcome back!  We are starting into one of the hardest units of the year (at least for the quiz).  We will be discussing why Utah wanted to become a state, what kept them from being a state, and when they actually became a state.

Week 19: Railroad!

This week is going to be great!  We are discussing the railroad: completing, ceremonies, affect on Utah, etc.  We have some great activities planned, so be excited!  I will post the study guide as soon as I can, it will most likely be added on Wednesday.  I will also hand it out on class.  Be aware that the Quarter 2 Test is coming up next Wednesday!

Week 18: CW/BY Paper and Railroad

Welcome back from break!  I hope you had a lovely time.  This week will be very straight forward.  We will be working on your Chief Walker/Brigham Young papers Monday - Thursday and it will be due Friday.  On Friday we will begin learning about the railroad and its impact on Utah.

MONDAY: Outline CW/BY
TUESDAY: Write CW/BY
WEDNESDAY: Newsday, CW/BY
THURSDAY: Finish CW/BY, Utah War
FRIDAY: CW/BY Paper due!, Railroad
                                            HOW TO ACCESS YOUR DOCUMENT
 
1. Go to drive.google.com.  Then sign in with your school email (first letter of your first name, first 3 letters of your last name, last for digits of your student number, @my.jordandistrict.org.  For example: tcha6789@my.jordandistrict.org) and the password is your student number.

 2. Click on your paper (you may have to click the edit button depending on what device you are using) and begin editing! (If you entered from gmail.com the grid of boxes in the upper right hand corner next to your email address will let you access drive)

                                  HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR PAPER

1. Access your document (instructions above).  On the top right there is a blue button that says "share."  Click on it.

2. On the bottom of the page that pops up it will read "invite people."  In the box beneath enter tiffany.dunn@jordandistrict.org.

3. Then press the green button that reads "share and save."  Once you've done that it is turned in!

Quiz Topics: Know the order 1-6 of where they lived, main reasons they were kicked out, why they had to leave the U.S. (go to Utah), the date (Month, Day, Year) of Pioneers Day and why we celebrate it, be able to define persecution and give examples, know details of the Extermination Order.

Week 13: Pioneers (LDS to Utah)

Welcome back!  This week we will be taking a look at how settlers ended up coming to Utah.  We will be learning a bit about the LDS beliefs because they were the cause of many of the events that occurred to bring them to Utah.  Depending on how fast notes go we will either have a quiz on Thursday or Monday.
