Welcome back from the break, I hope you had a great Halloween and weekend! This week we will be taking an in depth look at Mountain Men, their culture, and their effect on Utah.
MONDAY: Culture TUESDAY:Caches WEDNESDAY: Newsday, Trading Cards THURSDAY: Trading Cards FRIDAY: Mountain Man Quiz For the quiz make sure you know the following: motivation for mountain men, description, characteristics, rendezvous, caches, at least 2 examples of real life mountain men (Jed Smith, Jim Bridger, Antione Robidoux, etc) We've made it to the end of the quarter! This week we will be taking a test to see what you remember from the quarter and then will start into Mountain Men (one of my favorites!). I will be handing out a study guide for the test in class, but if you lose it, I attached it below. Also, the test is a mixture of multiple choice, true false, and matching. MONDAY:Review for Q1 Test TUESDAY: Quarter 1 Test! WEDNESDAY: Mountain Men THURSDAY: Percy Jackson! FRIDAY: No School
Welcome back from break! This week we will be diving into the early days of Utah and the explorers therein. We will be having a short quiz on Wednesday and therefore are moving Newsday to Thursday. Just a heads up, the end of the quarter is a week from this coming Thursday.

Welcome back after the long weekend! We will not being having a Newsday because of the upcoming quiz. This week we will be taking a quiz on the Native Americans in Utah and will be starting on our Native American Artifact Project. I will post more about that when we get closer.
MONDAY: Historic Tribes TUESDAY: Historic Tribes/Review WEDNESDAY: Native American Quiz THURSDAY: Artifact Project FRIDAY: R&S For the quiz make sure you know what is on your Native American Notes: shelter, where they lived, what is unique or special about each tribe, definition of prehistoric and historic, etc. This week we actually get to begin diving into the actual history of our state! We will take the test on geography and move on to the early people of Utah. This week is also student-led conferences, feel free to stop by!

TUESDAY: Prehistoric Native Americans WEDNESDAY: Newsday, Prehistoric Native Americans THURSDAY: Historic Native Americans FRIDAY: No School (Student-led Conferences) Hopefully, the students know that the brochure is due today, Monday September 23! If they did not turn it in, they need to do so ASAP. I will post the rubric below, in case it was somehow misplaced. We will be finishing geography and hopefully reviewing Friday for the upcoming Geography Test on Monday September 30. We have been discussing it daily in class, and the students know that they should begin studying for it. Happy trails! MONDAY: Brochure Due!, 3 Regions, begin 4 Factors of Climate TUESDAY: 4 factors of Climate WEDNESDAY: Newsday, Renewable vs. Non-renewable THURSDAY: Geology FRIDAY: Finish Geology, Review REMINDER: Your Geography test in coming up on Monday September 30! Topics include: geography packet (be able to identify regions, rivers, lakes, mountains, cities, national parks), 3 region notes, 4 factors of climate, resources (renewable vs non-renewable - know examples), and it would be helpful to review starters.
This week we will be finishing our geography packets as well as working on our first project! We will be making a brochure of Utah and using what we have learned to complete it. This week we will be finishing our 6 skills and will start working on our first Utah unit - geography. There will be a packet handed out in class. It will not be available on the website. We will aslo discuss the events of 9/11.
